Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten!!

This is an exciting time for your child, even though they may be a little apprehensive about going to a “big” school.  We will do our best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child, but also a time filled with real learning.  The skills we practice daily are the building blocks for your child’s future success in school and in life.  We are committed to making this year one of excitement, growth, and opportunity, both academically and socially.  We care for EACH child’s individual and social needs throughout the year and show them that school is a safe and consistent place to learn and explore.

Communication:

Our goal is to keep you as informed as we can.  Communication is vital between home and school.  Kindergarten sends home a newsletter at the beginning of each month allowing you to see what exciting things your child will be learning as well as activities that are planned.  We have daily folders that allow students to transport notes, letters, and other items to and from school.

Behavioral Expectations:

We follow the Love and Logic Behavior Scale.  With this scale, students are responsible for their own actions, and consequences are given based on the individual student and the individual problem.  Inside the daily communication folders, the students carry a calendar which allows the teacher to communicate with the parents any problems that may arise.

Homework:

Christa McAuliffe Charter Elementary School has a “no homework” policy.  There is an extra 45 minutes added on to each day to allow students to complete their work as well as have assistance readily available when needed.  There are times when students may not finish work and need to complete it at home and/or are given enrichment materials to better their education.

Mrs. Theresa Beuerle

Greetings!  I am Theresa Beuerle and am extremely excited to be joining the kindergarten team here at Christa McAuliffe this year.  I moved here last August from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I was born and raised and where I also began my own family.  I have a bachelor's in Elementary Education from West Chester University.  I have worked in education for 10 years including teaching a three year old class, 4th and 5th grades at the intermediate level, High School Language Arts and English, 8th grade prep workshops and also supported several homeschooling families in PA.  I am grateful for having this opportunity to work in such a positive environment with such beautiful individuals.

Ms. Wendy Douglas

Hi! I am Wendy Douglas and I love teaching kindergarten here at Christa McAuliffe! I am originally from Williamsburg, Virginia and moved here to attend college at USF. I liked the weather so much that I decided to stay. I have been working with children and their families for more than 10 years to include directing a childcare center, substitute teaching for all grade levels, and working as an early intervention specialist for children with developmental delays. I have a B.A. degree in Psychology and an Early Childhood Degree (age 3-grade 3). I also have a CDA and 60+ additional credits/certificates in early childhood courses. This is my fourth year teaching kindergarten.

Ms. Donniel Henriquez

Hello, I’m Donniel Henriquez.  I have been working here at Christa McAuliffe teaching Kindergarten since its doors opened in 2006, and I must say, I love it!   In 2003, I graduated from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire and moved to Florida to enjoy the sun and sand while being closer to family.  While attending PSU, I obtained a BS in Childhood Studies and received a teaching certificate in Kindergarten through 8th grade.  I also minored in Reading, Special Education, as well as Middle School Education.
Since 2003, I took part in wide range of early childhood trainings, including obtaining my Florida Director's Credential and VPK endorsement in 2008.  I have taught Kindergarten for 3 years, and prior to teaching Kindergarten I worked as a preschool teacher for 3 years. I am currently working on my ESOL and reading endorsements and look forward to soon start working on obtaining my National Board Teachers Certification.  But most of all, I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year.
