Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten!

Our team is dedicated to making your child’s first experience at Christa McAuliffe Charter Elementary a positive one! We understand that providing your child with a comfortable learning environment is crucial to your child’s development. We are excited to be working alongside you in your child’s educational journey.  We believe that children can grow and develop by exploring the topics we cover in class.  The main goal of pre-school is for the children to learn while having fun.  All of our classrooms are set up to provide your child with opportunities that allow you child’s mind to grow! Our learning centers are organized to encourage the development of your child’s social skills, as they discover new and exciting things about the world and themselves!

Mrs. Ileana Nodal		I am Ileana Nodal, I teach Pre-K here at Christa McAuliffe Charter Elementary School.  I have been working with children and their families for many years as a teacher and as a childcare director.  I completed my first early childhood certification through Miami-Dade College.  I since have received numerous certificates including the “Child Development Associate” from the Florida Department of Education.  I am bilingual English and Spanish.  This is my fourth year teaching at Christa McAuliffe.  www.freewebs.com/ileana333
Mrs. Elizabeth Perdomo		My name is Elizabeth Perdomo. I attended Miami-Dade College and received my CDA. I have been teaching for almost three years and was a substitute teacher at Dade Christian School for two years prior. I moved here with my family almost three years ago. Mrs. Deborah Vlahakes		Hi. My name is Deborah Vlahakes (Ms. “V”). I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Eckerd College (St Petersburg, FL). I’m trained in the Reggio Emilia Approach (an early childhood teaching technique) and I have a broad background in children’s theater and dance. My husband and I are both native Floridians. We lived in several states and traveled extensively before returning to Florida to start a family. My daughter is a first grader at Christa McAuliffe. Mrs. Jerilyn Byron Teachers Assistant		Hi! I am Jerilyn Byron. I have been employed at Christa McAuliffe since 2007 and enjoy working with the children in VPK.  I began childcare training through the Department of Children and Families in 2006 and currently attend college to obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education.  My husband and I have 2 amazing children that attend Christa McAuliffe.  Our family (including our golden retriever) enjoys boating, fishing, and diving.  I am grateful for the opportunity to work with your children and hope we can instill a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Ms. June Dwyer Teachers Assistant		Good morning! And in case I don't see you: Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night.  You already know my name...what you might not know about me is...I have been a babysitter, a nanny, a stay-at-home mom to my 2 beautiful,amazing children that attend Oasis Elementary and Oasis Middle, a Clinic Assistant (at Oasis Elementary), and since December 2008- VPK Assistant here at Christa McAuliffe Elementary.  I love my job!  I love the fact that I get paid to be a goof-ball!  But most importantly, I live by this excerpt from "Within My Power" by Forest Witcraft: One Hundred Years From Now:  "One hundred years from now, It will not matter what kind of car I drove, What kind of house I lived in, How much money I had in the bank, nor What my clothes looked like, BUT, the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child."
