English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instruction is provided to Limited English Proficient (LEP) students based on their level of English language proficiency.  These are students who are identified as still in the process of acquiring English as a second language.  They many not speak English at all or, at least, do not speak, understand and/or write English with the same facility as their classmates.  If the student is determined to be LEP, his or her teacher integrates instructional techniques of teaching English as a second language (ESL) with the curriculum requirements.  Some strategies implemented by teachers are demonstrations/actions for words, visuals (pictures, internet, and objects) to represent words, labeling of items in classroom and in my case one on one instruction.  As the ESOL assistant, I work with these students individually to aid in their understanding of the lessons taught in the classroom.  These are just a few of the many strategies utilized by the teachers to assist these eager students develop their English proficiency.  Currently there are 22 students receiving ESOL services.

Mrs. Claudia Satfield ESOL Teacher		Hello, my name is Claudia Satfield.  I was born and raised in Mexico, but I have lived in the United States for 18 years and I am proud to be an American citizen.  I have a bachelor degree from the University of Central Florida in EH (Emotional Handicapped) and I am certified to teach Spanish K-12.  This is my first year working at CMCE as the ESOL teacher.  I have two children, Jessica 8 and Jacob 6, they both attend this school and I have a wonderful husband whom I have been married to for 12 amazing years.  I love my job and I love working in this school.
Mrs. Yesenia Conway Spanish Teacher		Hola! I am originally from the Chicago land area. I moved here last summer with my son and daughter who also attend the charter schools. We really enjoyed our first warm, sunny winter! I have eleven years experience working with children. While in Illinois I taught three preschool classes. Spanish was a daily part of our curriculum as we had many Spanish speaking children in the area. I also ran several enrichment classes for preschoolers. In the summer, I was a camp counselor for preschool and school age camps. I began pursuing my degree in Early Childhood Education in Illinois and transferred to Southwest Florida College were I am enrolled as a full time student.
