Music

Welcome to the music page!  In music we do lots of fun things like play instruments, dance, and of course sing.  We learn about composers, how to read music, good musicianship, correct playing technique and we have a great time doing it.  We also have lots of fun instruments to play.  There are xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, wood blocks, temple blocks, cymbals, maracas, cow bells, and so much more!

Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders learn to play recorders and experince how to work together as an ensemble.  They also earn “belts” for their achievements with the recorders using a technique called Recorder Karate.  Recorder Karate builds upon what the students know by taking music terms they are already familiar with and then implementing new music terms and techniques.  The songs get progressively harder all the way to black belt.

Throughout the year each grade level has their own musical production that they perform.  The musicals correlate with the core knowledge taught in the classrooms.

This year's programs are listed below:

Kindergarten - "Giving Thanks"
1st Grade - "The 13 Colonies"
2nd Grade - "Charlotte's Web"
3rd Grade - "Spaced Out"
4th Grade - "Update: Earth"
5th Grade - "Tom Sawyer"

From reading music to playing instruments to singing and dancing, we have as much fun as possible in music!
